This Month in my Kitchen...
New cookbook alert - CHamoru Cuisine: A Mariånas Cultural Legacy! Found this great unique cookbook on Kickstarter and am so excited to dive into the cultural and culinary traditions of the Mariånas. You can order a copy here: www.gerardaflaguecollection.com
The Kitchen Garden is growing and we've been enjoying blackberries, string beans, carrots, greens (kale, chard, malabar spinach). Peaches are starting to fill out on the tree, while the okra, zucchini and tomatoes are struggling with oppressive heat and the cooler humid nights.
Started drying herbs for storage, and began with a large bunch of peppermint for tea.
Decided to learn a new craft, and gave a try to basketry! I had so much fun, I'll be making another soon.
We had an abundance of Blackberries so I decided to try making Blackberry Mead.
We had a small July 4th BBQ with just immediate family. We were all really feeling the heat so cooking outdoors with dinner inside was the plan. Dinner was BBQ jerk chicken with marinade and poussin from the farmer's market, and veggies.
My brother started taking a Turkish Language course, so we've been experimenting in the kitchen with Turkish cuisine. Recipes to follow soon.
