Hispanic Heritage Month Recipes

Happy Hispanic Heritage Month! Each year, from September 15 to October 15 Americans celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month by sharing the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central and South America. 2021 was especially significant because it was the 200th anniversary of Costa Rican Independence from Spain. Here are a few traditional & unique Latin American recipes you may want to add to your menu: 

Rose Lemonade


To quote Rob Thomas, "Man it's a hot one, like 7 inches from the midday sun!" We've had several days of intense sun and are due for more this week. It's become an ongoing mission to stay cool and hydrated. We've been drinking a lot of this refreshingly light and floral Rose Lemonade with our meals, adding a splash of gin in the evenings. This is a great batch drink for parties and BBQ's.

Here's my recipe:
Rose Lemonade

Rose Lemonade

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup Rose Syrup
  • 4 Cups Water
  • 1 Lemon
  • Ice
  • 2 oz. Gin

Instructions

  1. Pour the rose syrup into a pitcher then add the lemon juice, water and gin, stir throughly.
  2. Add ice, and lemon slices to individual glasses before serving. Garnish with dried tea roses.
Yield: 1 Quart
Prep Time: 5 mins.
Cook time: 0 mins.
Total time: 5 mins.
