Hispanic Heritage Month Recipes
Happy Hispanic Heritage Month! Each year, from September 15 to October 15 Americans celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month by sharing the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central and South America. 2021 was especially significant because it was the 200th anniversary of Costa Rican Independence from Spain. Here are a few traditional & unique Latin American recipes you may want to add to your menu:
What a fun looking month. Beautiful bouquet, belated happy anniversary. Your tea looks lovely, perfect for these cooler days. Your brittle sounds quite delicious.
ReplyDeleteThanks Gretchen!
DeleteWhat a busy time Emily. The brittle looks fab but I know I would just gobble it all down despite being full of coffee beans and sugar so just as well it was all the way over there! I've never had an idli (or an appam) so they are high on my list. Maybe a trip to Kerala will sort that out. Fingers crossed. All the best for the holdays. xxx
ReplyDeleteHi Fiona! I had to parcel them out otherwise I wold have eaten it all! As for the idle and appam they are pretty bland, they serve as the perfect conduit to soak up and ferry delicious pickles and sambar into your mouth. Good luck with Kerala! :)
DeleteBelated Happy Anniversary to you both. Such a colourful post. The raw cacoa nib brittle looks good and ah you have cranberries. I hope to pick some her fresh from the supermarket for seasonal dishes.
ReplyDeleteThanks Shaheen! Local cranberries are one of my favorites about this time of year, I like the tartness it balances for all the sweet dishes! Haha! :)
DeleteBelated Diwaliversary wishes - lovely shot of the lighted display. The persimmons are beautiful but it's the coffee/cocoa nib brittle that looks a real treat.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dee! It really got us in the holiday swing of things! :)
DeleteAll the table settings and the candle lit alter are beautiful. The persimmons and cranberries add such distinctive flavor to the season. Happy holidays.
ReplyDeleteThanks Liz! They definitely add their stamp to the season, as we usually can't wait for them, especially the persimmons! Hope you had a Happy Holiday Season! :)
